Faulty Start Switch / Relay

If the dryer will start (and heat) when you depress the start switch, but will stop when the switch is released, then it is likely that the run rely is faulty.  On almost all modern designs this relay is incorporated into the start switch itself. The solution in this case is to replace the start switch.

Some very very old dryer models actually utilized a centrifugal switch on the motor. However, this is not commonly found today.

As mentioned in the first paragraph, if the dryer will not heat when the start button is pressed, there is likely a different issue causing the problem.

Clothes Dryer Repair
Its not always the start/relay button. That was changed and my dryer had the same problem. Had to change the circuit board to repair it. So that would be another part to look into also.
